Two Open Positions for the Governor's House Program
CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR
DESCRIPTION: Primarily responsible for properly training and supervising inmates on both framing and finish construction of the Governor’s Houses in South Dakota. The Governor’s House Program is a program funded by SDHDA, in which prison inmates at the Mike Durfee State Prison build low-cost, low-maintenance, energy efficient homes to income qualified individuals and families.
QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidate must possess excellent customer service and construction trade skills; experience working with a variety of clients; understand basic math functions and calculations; the ability to lift and carry heavy objects; knowledge of building codes and on-the-job safety; and the ability to communicate professionally. Successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED and three years of construction experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to build and construct houses.
LOCATION: Springfield, SD
STARTING SALARY: $20.84-$24.66 per hour. SDHDA offers paid employee health insurance plus ten paid holidays, generous vacation leave accrual, and medical, dental, vision, and other benefits.

CDL TRUCK DRIVER
DESCRIPTION: Primarily responsible for driving a company truck and assisting with the delivery and installation of Governor’s Houses in South Dakota. The Governor’s House Program is a program funded by SDHDA, in which prison inmates at the Mike Durfee State Prison build low-cost, low-maintenance, energy efficient homes to income qualified individuals and families.
QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidate must possess excellent customer service and trade skills; experience working with a variety of clients; basic knowledge of State and Federal DOT vehicle requirements, rules, and regulations; experience with hydraulic jacks, metal beams and other heavy equipment; and the ability to communicate professionally. Home transport experience a plus. Successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED or a combination of three years of related education and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have good driving record and Class A CDL.
LOCATION: Statewide, SD (Must be able to travel to Springfield to retrieve house and deliver within the state)
