# Single Bedroom: Maximizing Monthly Housing Budgets
Less is more, right? For some, small living quarters aren’t ideal, but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t valuable. Knowing how to maximize a single-bedroom living space can save you a lot of money in the long run. There are plenty of tips and tricks to help you make the most of a small home or apartment. With the right attitude and perspective, maximizing your living situation can be an enjoyable experience.
**Here’s how you can make the most of your single-bedroom space.**
## Find the Right Appliances
Furnishing a house or apartment can cost a lot of money. But if you find appliances or furniture with a dual purpose, you’ll spend less in the long run. Save electricity and counter space with kitchen appliances that can perform multiple tasks. The kitchen is the heart of the house—keep it open and lively by furnishing it only with the necessities.
This goes for large appliances, too. You can opt for a stackable washer and dryer to save space and money. Washers and dryers can take up a lot of square footage that you might not have to spare. Not only do stackable washers and dryers save you from spending a lot of money at the laundromat, but they also tend to be less expensive in many cases.
## Organization is Key
Your home may be clean, but it still might look cluttered if it isn’t organized. Furniture and other items can go unused and can be a big waste of space and money. Even though organizing your house can sometimes feel like a jigsaw puzzle, it’s important to use all the space available.
Organization applies to your refrigerator, too. By having an organized and clean fridge, perishable food is less likely to get forgotten. You’ll no longer be wasting food and space in your fridge when it’s organized.
## Use All the Space You Can
A helpful way to keep your home organized is by using all your wall space. Keeping items off the floor is a must for maximizing your living quarters. Shelves and portable storage containers are a great way to move and hold household items. Garages, attics and basements are great places to keep items that don’t necessarily need to be constantly and actively in use.
