SDHDA is ready to help you bounce back toward stability and normalcy. ![MicrosoftTeams-image (25)](https://info.sdhda.org/hs-fs/hubfs/MicrosoftTeams-image%20(25).png?width=750&name=MicrosoftTeams-image%20(25).png) **Here are some of the key ways SDHDA can provide COVID-19 relief.** **SD CARES Housing Assistance Program** [The CARES Housing Assistance Program](https://www.sdhda.org/social-programs/cares-act-housing-assistance-program/cares-act-housing-assistance-program-1) is here to help fight against housing instability and homelessness. South Dakotans impacted by COVID-19 and the related economic crisis may be eligible for financial assistance to help stabilize their housing situations. This funding is provided to South Dakotans through the CARES Act and the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 - Emergency Rental Assistance. The two funding sources will vary in eligibility requirements and eligible uses and require certain documentation. Homeowners or renters can apply for funds to cover rent, rental arrears, utilities, utility arrears, mortgage payments and mortgage delinquency. **Security Deposit Assistance** COVID-19 may have had an impact on your accumulated savings and you need help paying your security deposit. The Security Deposit Assistance Program (SDAP) can help. The objective of SDAP is to provide funding to eligible applicants for use in emergency situations to prevent homelessness or to assist persons in transitional housing to secure permanent rental housing. Funds may also be used to assist low-income families in securing a more affordable rental housing unit. Funds are in the form of a grant and eligibility requirements apply. Public housing authorities and non-profit agencies who administer SDAP funds in their service areas can be found [here](https://www.sdhda.org/housing-development/home-program/set-asides/set-aside-fund-recipients). **Homeowner Rehabilitation Program** The objective of the [HOME Homeowner Rehabilitation Program ](https://www.sdhda.org/social-programs/homeowner-rehabilitation-program) and the [HOF Homeowner Rehabilitation Program](https://www.sdhda.org/housing-development/housing-opportunity-fund/hof-program-recipients)is to provide funding to eligible homeowners to assist with the repair, rehabilitation or reconstruction of owner-occupied units. Without taking proper care of your home, problems may arise. Black mold can form, chipped paint can turn into rotting wood and broken gutters can turn into extensive water damage. Prevention and maintenance go a long way. The Homeowner Rehabilitation Programs help you take care of yourself by helping take care of your home. The assistance is in the form of a forgivable loan with the balance forgiven at the end of five years.
